Solskjaer says Manchester United will ‘recruit smart’ this summer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United will ‘recruit smart’ this summer.

Solskajer is facing a huge summer in the transfer market following Manchester United‘s poor end of season form, with the club having missed out on qualification for the Champions League after a run of just two wins in 10 fixtures.

Several first-team players look set to leave the club, whilst players such as Ander Herrera and Juan Mata are out-of-contract at the season’s end.

Solskjaer is expected to make several changes to his squad in the coming transfer window, but says United will ‘recruit smart’ as he looks to strengthen his squad this summer.

“We’ve got to recruit smart, we’ve got to keep blooding the youngsters and we’ll be fine,” Solskjaer told MUTV at the club’s end-of-season awards night.

“This club is huge and the media and everyone’s criticising us as soon as they’ve got a chance. We got a few injuries and it’s been ups and downs for the last two months, but that’s football.

“It’s not like (playing the video game) Football Manager. You’ve got to deal with different stuff outside of football as well… But I’ve enjoyed it. It’s a great challenge. I haven’t gone to bed one night worrying about what’s going to happen.”
