Keane: ‘There’s a long way back’ for Manchester United

Roy Keane said ‘it’s scary how far they have fallen’ after seeing Manchester United being beaten by West Ham in a poor game at the London Stadium.

Manchester United‘s decline since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson is certainly not a breaking news story, with the Red Devils having finished in the top four just twice in the last six years.

The latest chapter of the demise came at the hands of West Ham, with the Red Devils putting in a hugely disappointing performance in a game which was sorely lacking in quality and desire from the visitors.

Speaking after the game, former United captain Roy Keane described the display as ‘lacklustre,’ adding that they have a long way to go to return to their previously lofty heights.

“I am shocked and saddened about how bad Manchester United were today,” Keane said in his role as a pundit for Sky Sports.

“Everything was lacklustre. There was a lack of characters, a lack of quality, a lack of leaders, a lack of desire.

“There’s a long way back for United. It’s scary how far they have fallen.”
