Rooney reluctantly tips Liverpool for maiden Premier League title win

Wayne Rooney has reluctantly tipped Liverpool to finally win an elusive Premier League title this season.

The former England captain has been discussing the start to the new Premier League season, and believes Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side look the strongest following their perfect start to the new campaign.

Liverpool head into the international break having opened up an eight-point advantage over nearest challengers Man City at the summit, with the European champions having won each of their opening eight league fixtures.

Rooney, who won five league titles at rivals Manchester United and also enjoyed two spells at Merseyside neighbours Everton, believes Liverpool have improved following last season’s runners-up finish and has begrudgingly admitted that this could be the season the club end their long wait for a league title.

“In my opinion, Liverpool look the strongest,” Rooney reluctantly told iFL TV.

“City are a fantastic team.

“I think Liverpool have improved on last year, whereas City have stayed at that level of great consistency, so I think Liverpool.”
