Ronaldo: I’m back at Manchester United to win again

Cristiano Ronaldo has said that his emotional return to Manchester United is not a ‘vacation’, insisting he is back at the club with the aim of winning more trophies.

During his first spell at Old Trafford, Ronaldo developed from a scrawny winger full of flicks and tricks, into a pure goalscoring machine, winning three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Champions League, netting 118 goals in 292 appearances before moving to Real Madrid in a World Record move.

Since that £80m move to the Bernabeu, Ronaldo has only gone on to underline his greatness, remarkably scoring 50+ goals in six of his nine years in Madrid, with his first season at the club the only time he didn’t break the 40 goal barrier.

Three years and another 101 goals in the Black and White of Juventus would follow, before the 36-year-old completed his return to the club in which he won the first of his five Ballon d’Or’s.

Since his return, some have questioned whether Ronaldo can transform Manchester United into title contenders – their last league win coming back in 2013 – though the Portuguese has insisted he’s not back in the Premier League for a holiday, saying he is looking to add more honours to his bulging collection.

“This is why I am here,” Ronaldo told

“I am not here for a vacation. As I told you, before was good, winning important things and I wore the shirt before many years ago, but I am here to win again.

“I am capable, me and my team-mates. I am ready to go, I am ready to go. It is a good chance for me, for the supporters, for the club, to get one step ahead.

“I am ready and I think I will be a huge thing in the next three or four years.”
