Real Madrid look at Kane as an alternative to Haaland and Mbappe

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Harry Kane with the club viewing the Tottenham forward as a potential alternative to Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Real are preparing to invest this summer with the signing of a new centre-forward a priority, the Spanish champions in need of fresh impetus as they transition from a successful period in European competitions in recent years.

Kylian Mbappe has been at the forefront of the club’s transfer wish-list for a number of years, with Zinedine Zidane a huge admirer of his compatriot and the Paris Saint-Germain forward having held a long-term ambition to represent Los Blancos.

The 22-year-old is arguably the finest young player in world football at present and his future at the Parc des Princes remains uncertain as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract this summer.

Haaland has also emerged as a potential target with the forward the most sought-after talent in the game, a host of Europe’s elite clubs monitoring the 20-year-old following a spectacular impact at Borussia Dortmund.

The Norway international has scored 49 goals in just 49 appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions and is the leading scorer in this season’s Champions League.

Both players are of huge interest to Real Madrid as they look for a superstar summer signing, though Cadena SER are reporting that Kane has emerged as an attractive alternative.

Given the fierce competition and huge finances involved in deals for Mbappe and Haaland, the Spanish side could turn their attentions to Kane who is rumoured to be open to leaving Tottenham this summer.

The 27-year-old is yet to win major silverware and is considering an exit to fulfil his ambitions, with Spurs off the pace in the Premier League and suffering an embarrassing Europa League exit last week.

Real and Spurs have enjoyed a strong working relationship in recent years following multiple deals, including the transfers of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Spain to north London last summer.

Bale’s future could also hold the key in any potential deal, should Spurs register an interest in signing the Wales international on a permanent basis at the end of the current campaign.

Kane – who will have two years remaining on his contract this summer – has been in superb form so far this season, leading the Premier League for both goals and assists with 30 goal involvements in 27 appearances.
