Ranking the five favourites to sign Armando Broja

Armando Broja’s time with Chelsea could come to an end before the January transfer window deadline, with a number of Premier League rivals interested in signing the striker.

Broja has struggled to establish himself in West London with fitness issues having stalled his progress, while Chelsea’s reported interest in signing a number nine could see the academy product exit in search of minutes.

The 22-year-old showed his potential during impressive loan stints at Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton in recent campaigns and Chelsea will demand a sizeable fee for the forward this month.

Ranking the five favourites to sign Armando Broja:

Aston Villa – 14/1

Aston Villa have been credited with interest in Broja, as Unai Emery’s Champions League chasing side look to bring in support for Ollie Watkins. Jhon Durán’s reportedly strained relationship with Emery could see the Colombian leave Villa Park this month, heightening the need for competition and cover for leading scorer Watkins.

The move to Villa would see Broja sign for a club with ambitions of gatecrashing the top spots this season, though the Albania international might seek a greater assurance of playing time than would be on offer in the Midlands. Watkins has been one of the players of the Premier League season so far, with only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland having been directly involved in more goals.

Crystal Palace – 12/1

Crystal Palace have moved towards lowering the average of their squad in recent seasons and Broja fits the bill for the club’s recent recruitment.

An emerging talent with local roots, he could join Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Marc Guehi as part of an exciting core in the Eagles’ squad.

Much could hinge on Palace’s decision over Roy Hodgson’s future, however, with the 76-year-old head coach out of contract in the summer and under pressure, after one win from 10 Premier League games.

Wolves – 8/1

Wolves are in the market for a centre-forward as Gary O’Neil looks to add goals to his improving side.

Despite impressive campaigns from Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha at Molineux, Wolves are said to be targeting an out-and-out put number nine, having allowed Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic to leave on loan this month.

Broja’s power and mobility look ideally suited to a Wolves team who have looked threatening on the counter-attack all season.

West Ham – 7/1

West Ham are long-term admirers of Broja having submitted a bid worth more than £30million in July 2022.

The Irons failed with that attempt to lure Broja across the capital, but could return this month as the club look to sign a striker. Jarrod Bowen has operated as an auxiliary forward for much of the campaign, with Michail Antonio struggling with fitness problems and Danny Ings having failed to make an impact at the London Stadium.

The Europa Conferece League winners have also been linked with Feyernoord forward Santiago Gimenez and Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán.

Fulham – 6/1

Fulham could offer Broja the chance to remain close to home with a raid on their West London neighbours.

Marco Silva’s side sold Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in a deal worth over £46m in the summer, losing the Serbian striker after 111 goals over five-and-a-half seasons at Cravan Cottage.

Raul Jimenez was brought in from Wolves and has shown flashes of his old self, but the Mexican will turn 33 before the end of the current season. Broja, a decade younger, could be the long-term solution for Fulham in the final third.
