Rangnick’s patience with Ronaldo ‘wearing thin’ with Man Utd boss having ‘major reservations’

Ralf Rangnick is understood to have ‘major reservations’ regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s suitability to lead the line for Manchester United next season.

Ronaldo has scored just one goal across his past ten fixtures and produced another underwhelming performance as the Red Devils missed a host of chances to draw 0-0 with Watford at Old Trafford this weekend.

The Portugal captain looks uncharacteristically short on confidence and the Manchester Evening News are reporting that Rangnick’s patience with Ronaldo is ‘wearing thin’.

The German is believed to have doubts over whether Ronaldo is the right man to lead the club’s attack next season and is understood to be in support of signing a centre-forward this summer.

Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season but has endured a barren run of late, though a lack of alternatives has meant the 37-year-old has started six of the past seven fixtures.

Edinson Cavani has struggled with a groin problem all season, whilst Anthony Martial was allowed to leave on loan for Sevilla last month in search of regular first-team football.

Marcus Rashford offers another alternative at centre-forward but has failed to find his finest form this season, scoring five times in the last four-and-a-half months.
