Benitez warns Newcastle players they’ve ‘done nothing yet.’

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has warned his players they have ‘done nothing yet’ despite a recent upturn in results.

After a difficult start to the season, Monday night’s win at Burnley saw Benitez’s side win for the third consecutive fixture to climb to 13th in the table and away from the Premier League’s relegation places.

Despite their marked improvement, Benitez has issued his players a warning to maintain their standards.

“I have been very clear with the players that we have done nothing yet – we have to make sure we keep playing with the same intensity and attitude and mentality.’’ Benitez told his pre-match press conference.

“Every game is really important but obviously if you are close to some teams, if you can beat them and get the three points then it becomes even more important.

“At the moment it is very important to to be sure our players and fans understand so everybody has got to stay in the same place and continue to push together.”

Newcastle host West Ham at St James’ Park on Saturday with the teams level on 12 points so far this season.
