Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says the club ‘won’t expect too much’ from new signing Giovani Lo Celso.
The Argentina international arrived at Spurs on deadline day from Real Betis, though the 23-year-old is yet to feature as he gets up to speed at his new club.
Lo Celso had an interrupted pre-season following his exploits in the Copa America this summer, with Pochettino keen to ensure the midfielder is not prematurely rushed into first-team action as he settles into life in English football.
“Lo Celso is a situation that is not going to be easy,” Pochettino told his pre-match press conference.
“[He] Was in extended holidays after the Copa America, he didn’t have a proper pre-season and didn’t train much. Then signed for us after a week without training.
“He’s training well but is so far away from what we expect from him. We need to give him time and we won’t expect too much from him.”
