Proper Football Man Graeme Souness believes Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling should be crowned as the Premier League’s Player of the Year.
The England international scored twice as City beat Crystal Palace on Sunday, the 24-year-old taking his tally to 17 league goals for the season.
Sterling has been in sensational form for City this season, with Pep Guardiola’s side chasing an unprecedented ‘quadruple’ of major trophies.
Sterling’s form has seen him installed as one of the favourites for the Player of the Year awards, alongside Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk, and Sky Sports pundit Souness believes the winger would be a deserving winner.
“Sterling left Anfield, at 20 and he’s been sensational. And he should only get better,” Souness said on Super Sunday.
“He’s not the most clinical and he will accept that, he should be well into his 20s playing for that team and I think he will, playing in this side with these players.
“I’d give [Player of the Year] to him right now, I think he has been fabulous.”
