Newcastle United travel to Coventry City on Monday night with some of their injured players closing in on a return.
Matthias Jaissle’s side have eight points from five league games and have scored in every one of their away matches this season. They have won each of the last seven meetings with Coventry.
Newcastle United team news
Ewen Jaouen (hamstring) is out for around two months. Nine players missed the 2-1 win over Hull City, and Jaissle said he expects three or four of them back in contention, including Joelinton (groin) and Nico Gonzalez (concussion). Jacob Ramsey (thigh), Amar Dedic (hamstring), Anthony Elanga, Dan Burn (ankle), Will Osula (foot), Lewis Miley (knock) and Tino Livramento are also doubts, and at least one could make the bench.
Gonzalez could displace Sean Steur in the only change from the Hull win, partnering Joe Willock in midfield. Willock and Lewis Hall scored inside the first seven minutes against Hull, and Harvey Barnes set up both goals, the earliest a Newcastle player has made two Premier League assists. Yoane Wissa is expected to lead the line, with Murphy, Fernandez-Pardo and Barnes behind him. Hornicek is expected in goal, with Miley, Thiaw, Botman and Hall in defence.
Newcastle United predicted lineup
Newcastle United possible starting XI: Hornicek; Miley, Thiaw, Botman, Hall; Gonzalez, Willock; Murphy, Fernandez-Pardo, Barnes; Wissa
