Manuel Pellegrini says West Ham’s mentality ‘must always be to aim for more’.
West Ham travel to face London rivals Chelsea this weekend, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Everton.
Pellegrini says that the defeat was the worst of his reign at the club so far, but insists West Ham will try to finish as high as they can as they bid to end the season strongly.
“Nobody was happy after Everton,” Pellegrini told his pre-match press conference.
”We are trying to finish as high as we can in the table this season and we are involving all the players in that mentality.
“You must understand that we played with eight players injured. Any squad would feel those injuries. It happened and now we must look to Chelsea and think positively.
“Our mentality must always be to aim for more. With so many injured players this season – and long injuries too – I don’t think we’ve had a bad season but we must try to improve it over the last six games.”
