Dennis Bergkamp was a footballer capable of the extraordinary.

The Dutchman was a delight to watch during a decade at Arsenal, in which Bergkamp was at the forefront of evolution. He arrived in North London with Arsenal recognised as a formidable defensive unit, the club’s success built on the famous ‘Back Five’ formed under George Graham.

Bergkamp added an flicker of elegance to the Gunners, one that turned into a flame of aesthetic football under Arsene Wenger. He was the inspiration behind the club’s domestic double success in 1997/98 and added another Premier League and FA Cup double in 2002. In 2004, he formed part of the club’s historic ‘Invincibles’ title-winning team.

Amid a catalogue of brilliant Bergkamp moments was this goal at Newcastle.

On March 2nd 2002, Bergkamp scored arguably the greatest goal in Premier League history with a unique spin and finish at St James’ Park. In a clash of huge magnitude against a Newcastle side also chasing title success, Bergkamp bamboozled Nikos Dabizas to score an incredible individual effort.

Is this the best Premier League goal of all time? Let us know in the comments.
