Nuno Espirito Santo has discussed Harry Kane’s situation at Tottenham following the forward’s refusal to rejoin training this week.
Kane is determined to leave Spurs this summer amid interest from Manchester City, with the Premier League champions having seen an offer of £100m turned down by the north London side earlier in the transfer window.
The 28-year-old was due to return for pre-season training on Monday but failed to report at Spurs training ground and the Guardian are reporting that the forward remains outside of the UK at present with Kane holidaying alongside in his family in Florida.
Kane is understood to be intending to report to Spurs this weekend for a Covid-19 test, though his required period of quarantine and lack of preparation means the star is almost certain to miss the club’s opening Premier League fixture next weekend – a clash against suitors City at the Etihad.
Nuno has now discussed Kane’s uncertain future and admits he is yet to speak to the unsettled striker, though insisted he is keen for a resolution to be found internally and avoid ‘any kind of public argument’.
“I expect to speak with Harry soon. I haven’t had the chance yet. We have to first of all solve the problems ourselves, then I will speak to you,” Nuno told a press conference following Spurs’ 2-2 pre-season draw at Chelsea.
“It’s not that I don’t want to comment, what I believe is all this issue in relation to everything should be discussed internally, among us. Let’s try to avoid any kind of public argument or discussion about it. We have to focus on what is important, solve the situation, between us.
“We will solve the situation internally, with the club speaking and trying to reach a better solution and a conclusion to the situation.
“All of pre-season has been hard for every club. It’s different, I know, but the absence of a lot of players due to international duty has made it a hard time for a lot of managers.”
