Nagelsmann 50/50 on taking Chelsea job as Potter is sacked

Julian Nagelsmann is ’50/50′ on whether to become Chelsea’s next manager, following the decision to sack Graham Potter on Sunday.

Potter was sacked after less than seven months in charge of Chelsea at the weekend, having won just seven of his 22 league fixtures in charge of the west Londoners.

Nagelsmann has been made the early favourite to succeed Potter, but the German is understood to be unsure whether to take the role so soon after his own exit from Bayern Munich.

Sky Sports are reporting that Nagelsmann is 50/50 on the prospect of becoming Chelsea manager, as he considers taking a short break to assess his future.

The 35-year-old – who is also on Tottenham’s shortlist of candidates to replace Antonio Conte – was surprisingly sacked at Bayern last month and replaced by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.

Nagelsmann could take time to assess his options with other major roles, including Real Madrid, potentially set to become available this summer.

Despite his dismissal at Bayern, Nagelsmann’s contract means Chelsea would need to agree a deal with German side to appoint him this season.

Bayern’s chief executive, Oliver Kahn, has told Sky Germany that he believes Nagelsmann is ‘more likely’ to wait until the summer before making a decision on his future.
