Sky Sports Premier League have announced that Jose Mourinho is to join their punditry team for the new season.
Mourinho will be in the studio for the meeting between former clubs Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Sky Sports announcing the addition of the Portuguese manager to their line-up.
The 56-year-old has been without a club since being sacked by United in December, and the three-times Premier League winner will now join Sky’s punditry team as he awaits a return to management.
Mourinho will join a team already containing the likes of Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness and Jamie Redknapp, with Sky keen to add the knowledge and experience of a manager who has won 25 major honours during spells in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.
Speaking on his appointment Mourinho said: “The Premier League is a special competition for me, one that takes so much hard work to win and you just can’t take your eyes off the matches every week.
“Sky Sports is the home of the Premier League and it’s a pleasure for me to join this team and help to understand and explain what happened in each match. Football is a huge passion, it means so much to the fans, and I look forward to being part of the Premier League with them until I return to my place on the touchline.”
