Report: Manchester United to target Dembele as Lukaku replacement

Manchester United are considering a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku has been tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer amid interest from Italian giants Inter Milan, with the Serie A side already seeing two bids rejected for the 26-year-old.

Manchester United are believed to be willing to allow Lukaku to leave should their £75 million valuation be met, and according to Sky Sports, they will target former Celtic forward Dembele as his replacement.

The France U21 international has impressed since joining Lyon in a £19.7m deal from the Scottish champions last summer, scoring 20 goals in all competitions as the Ligue 1 side secured Champions League qualification.

The 23-year-old is viewed as a traditional number nine and seen as an ideal replacement for Lukaku, though United are also considering alternatives.

Highly respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that United are one of a number of clubs interested in a move for Lille star Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivory Coast international, who is capable of playing across the forward line, scored 23 goals for Lille last season, although the 24-year-old is also interesting the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Napoli.
