Christian Eriksen and Youri Tielemans are amongst the names being considered by Manchester United as potential replacements for Paul Pogba according to reports.
Pogba’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain despite the club’s insistence he is not for sale, with Real Madrid and Juventus both interested in a big-money move for the French midfielder.
The 26-year-old is believed to be keen on an exit from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this summer, having grown frustrated at United’s inability to compete for major honours.
Pogba’s desire to leave has seen Manchester United looking to identify potential replacements, with the Evening Standard reporting Tottenham’s Eriksen and Monaco midfielder Tielemans are on shortlist of midfield recruits.
Spurs playmaker Eriksen has just a year remaining on his contract and alerted clubs by admitting he ‘wants to try something new’. The 27-year-old is also believed to be a target for Real Madrid and Inter Milan and would represent an ideal replacement should Pogba depart.
Belgian international Tielemans impressed during a loan spell in the Premier League last season, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 13 appearances since arriving at Leicester in January.
The 22-year-old would fit the profile of player United boss Solskjaer is looking to sign this summer, with the Norwegian believed to be keen to add young, hungry players with potential to develop to his squad.
United’s priority however is for Pogba to remain at Old Trafford, and the club would likely demand a fee in excess of £150m to part with the World Cup winner.
