Man City preparing improved bid for Kane

Manchester City are said to be preparing a new record bid of €150m for Tottenham forward Harry Kane.

Pep Guardiola’s side saw an offer of £100m (€117m) rejected for the England captain earlier in the summer transfer window, but are now set to return with an improved bid as they bid to prise the star from north London.

Kane has made no secret of his desire to move to the Etihad in search of elusive silverware, refusing to rejoin Tottenham training for pre-season as he bids to engineer a move to Manchester.

Spurs have continued to insist that Kane – who has three years remaining on his current contract – is not for sale this summer, but could now be tempted ahead of a Premier League record offer.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that City’s new offer will be €150m (£127m), eclipsing the £100m British transfer record deal that took Jack Grealish from Aston Villa to the Premier League champions just a week ago.

Spurs have been linked with various centre-forward additions in recent weeks including Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, though the club’s have insisted their desire for forward arrivals is to supplement – and not replace – the wantaway Kane.

Kane finished as the leading scorer in the Premier League last season to win a third Golden Boot and has scored 221 goals in 336 appearances since coming through the academy ranks at the north London side.

Spurs face Manchester City in their opening fixture of the new Premier League season this weekend.
