Man Utd hold talks over Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United have reportedly held ‘initial talks’ regarding the potential signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Salzburg.

The striker has emerged as a target for the Red Devils in recent weeks after making a breakthrough at the Austrian outfit last season where he scored 11 goals in all competitions, following up on having netted 21 in 29 games on loan at second-tier FC Liefering the season before.

The 19-year-old already has a goal and an assist to his name this season, with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs keeping an eye on a player who has been likened to Erling Haaland in both style and stature.

Manchester United have been the name most strongly linked with a move for the Slovenia international, though Chelsea, Liverpool and a number of other European sides are believed to be monitoring the teenager.

According to reports today, United have held talks with RB Salzburg, with Sky Sports reporting that their initial discussions have highlighted a ‘gap in valuation’ between the two sides.

It has been suggested that the Austrian champions value Sesko at around €55 million, with the Sky Sports report saying that United are now ‘deciding whether to pursue a deal’.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano confirmed United’s meetings with Salzburg, while also reporting on a meeting between Chelsea and the player’s agent last week, while a third unnamed club are also ‘in the race’.

Sesko currently has four years on his deal in Salzburg, with his current club under no pressure to sell and keen to keep him for another year.
