Man Utd to offer record wages to keep Pogba

Manchester United are prepared to offer Paul Pogba a new contract that will make the midfielder the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

Pogba’s future remains uncertain with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and the Red Devils are keen for the star to sign a new long-term and record-breaking deal.

According to the Sun, United are ‘desperate’ to agree terms with Pogba before the start of next season and state that the France international will be offered a deal worth a staggering £400,000-a-week.

Pogba’s new deal would make the midfielder the highest-paid player at the club and the highest across the entire Premier League, eclipsing the £375,000-a-week currently earned by teammate David de Gea.

Pogba – who signed for the Red Devils in a then £89m world-record deal in 2016 – is currently with the France squad at Euro 2020 and United are hopeful of reaching an agreement following the tournament.

Last season the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, declared Pogba’s career with the club was ‘over’ following an indifferent period and he has previously been linked with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and former club Juventus.

Each of that trio will be watching on should an agreement not be reached, with foreign clubs able to start negotiations with the midfielder from January, though Pogba is understood to be content at United as the club look to push on and challenge for the Premier League title next season.
