The 24-year-old’s output as exploded after moving into a more advanced position and he has been linked with several leading sides across Europe.

Sky Sports Germany are reporting that Manchester United have made contact with the player’s agent and an offer of up to €60m is expected next week.

Ralf Rangnick has endorsed the signing of Nkunku, who made his senior debut for France during March’s international break and the transfer has been backed by Erik ten Hag.

Leipzig are keen to retain the forward and are prepared to offer a new deal with the inclusion of a release clause, in a bid to keep Nkunku at the Red Bull Arena for a further season.

His current deal does not possess a release clause and Leipzig will hold out for a huge fee, with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and former side Paris Saint-Germain also among the clubs said to be interested.
