Manchester United are confident of agreeing a new contract with Marcus Rashford as negotiations continue over a new deal for the forward.
Rashford has 18 months remaining on his current deal after the Red Devils triggered a one-year extension option earlier this season, amid public interest in the 25-year-old from Paris Saint-Germain.
The England international has been in superb form this season and has scored in seven consecutive games since the season’s restart, including the winner in Saturday’s Manchester Derby win at Old Trafford.
United want to tie down the academy graduate to a new lucrative long-term contract and the Manchester Evening News are reporting that the club are confident of reaching an agreement.
The deal will see Rashford receive an increase on his £200,000-a-week wages and while an agreement is not expected imminently, there is confidence it will be finalised with both parties keen on a new contract.
Rashford has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season and is on course to break the 20-goal barrier for a third time in four seasons.
He also scored three goals for England at the World Cup in Qatar, having rediscovered his finest form after a difficult 18 months of fitness and form issues.
