Man United plan major decision as Ten Hag warns he’ll ‘go somewhere else to win trophies’

Manchester United will reportedly conduct a review of the season before making a decision on the future of Erik ten Hag, who says he will win trophies elsewhere if they no longer want him.

The Dutchman has been widely expected to be let go by the club after a disappointing campaign in which they finished eighth in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Uefa Champions League at the group stage.

But the Red Devils caused a huge upset on Saturday by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley, winning the trophy for a 13th time in the club’s history.

After claiming his second piece of silverware in two years, Ten Hag could remain at Old Trafford into next season, but his precarious position hinges on a season review that will take place next week, according to The Athletic.

The report claims that the Man United hierarchy, led by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford, “now intend to objectively assess all aspects” of the campaign, including Ten Hag’s performance.

Man United have already sounded out potential replacements, including Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, but Ten Hag sent a strong message to the club’s owners after winning the FA Cup.

“Two trophies in two years is not bad, three finals in two years is not bad,” he said. “If they don’t want me, then I go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I do.”
