Liverpool are in talks with Nike regarding a long-term kit deal which would be the most financially lucrative in Premier League history.
Manchester United‘s £750m deal with Adidas is currently the league’s highest-ever kit manufacturer deal, though Liverpool are now reported to be in talks with the American sportswear giants of a mega-deal which would eclipse that figure.
Liverpool’s current deal with New Balance, worth a reported £45m per year, is due to expire at the end of next season and talks have begun regarding the club’s future kit suppliers.
The Merseyside club are also believed to have held discussions with the likes of Adidas and Puma as they seek to secure the most lucrative contract, though ESPN are reporting that Nike are leading the way.
New Balance are believed to have the option to match any rivals offer and extend their contract, though the deal being prepared by Nike is said to be record-breaking for an English club.
Spanish giants Barcelona’s current deal with Nike, worth a reported £100m-a-year over a 10 year period, is the current world-record, though Liverpool’s potential deal unlikely to match that figure.
Liverpool announced record-breaking financial figures in February, posting a pre-tax profit of £125m for the year ending May 2018, and a mega-deal with Nike will only further strengthen the club’s financial position.
