Liverpool boss Iraola delivers injury update on Gravenberch

The midfielder did not play against Arsenal at the weekend.

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola says that Ryan Gravenberch is dealing with pain from a heel injury that has ruled him out of their next match.

The midfielder was an unused substitute on Sunday when the Reds lost 1-0 at Anfield to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Gravenberch has not travelled with the squad to Istanbul ahead of Wednesday’s encounter with Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League.

“It is a day to day thing,” Iraola said during his pre-match press conference. “The fracture healed, it is about the pain. He has some discomfort. It is going to be something every day we will ask him how he is.”

Trey Nyoni put in an impressive performance when he took Gravenberch’s place in the starting lineup at the weekend and could start again tomorrow night.

“He has to continue in the same place as the beginning of the season, being ready for every game,” Iraola added.

“We trust him, he is doing very well. We have to encourage him to continue improving and learning.”
