Liverpool and Man City ‘could make a move’ for Bukayo Saka this summer

Liverpool and Manchester City are considering moves to sign Bukayo Saka from Arsenal, should the North Londoners fail to secure Champions League football.

The duo are understood to be monitoring the progress of Saka with the Gunners, with the academy graduate having established himself as an important figure for club and country in recent seasons.

Saka has scored six goals and provided four assists in the Premier League this season, having impressed with his performances for England at this summer’s European Championship.

He is part of an emerging core of talent at Arsenal, but ESPN are reporting that the Gunners could face interest from Premier League rivals should they miss out on a top-four finish.

Liverpool and Manchester City are both understood to be considering testing Arsenal’s resolve, having been impressed with Saka’s performances in the capital.

The 20-year-old has flourished in a variety of positions since coming through the academy ranks, operating on both flanks, centrally and at full-back.

Arsenal are believed to be preparing a contract extension for the winger as they bid to secure Saka’s future, but a deal could depend on their pursuit of Champions League football.

Mikel Arteta’s side are sixth at present, two points behind Manchester United in fourth, and have not qualified for the Champions League since the 2016/17 season.
