Alexandre Lacazette insists the Arsenal players are fully behind under-fire manager Unai Emery.
The Arsenal boss is coming under increasing pressure following the club’s disappointing start to the season, with last weekend’s defeat at top-four rivals Leicester already leaving the club eight points adrift of the Champions League places.
The defeat at the King Power Stadium was their fifth fixture in succession without a win in all competitions, whilst their torrid away form has continued, the victory at Newcastle on the opening day their only league win away from the Emirates this season.
Despite the club’s struggles, the Arsenal hierarchy have backed Emery this week and insisted the Spaniard remains ‘the right man’ for the job, a view that Lacazette backs up, saying the playing squad ‘supports the coach’.
“We’re working together every day on a constant basis to pick up the slack,” he told the club website.
“The group definitely supports the coach and I’m sure the club does as well.
“We’re a very tight group, and we’re doing everything we can to improve.”
Arsenal’s defeat at Leicester saw the club slump to sixth in the Premier League, and the North London club will be hoping to get their season back on track when they host Southampton at the Emirates following the international break.
