Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of Liverpool’s injured contingent ahead of the club’s clash with Bournemouth this weekend.
Klopp’s squad has been decimated with fitness problems during the season’s opening weeks, with the Reds’ injury list having contributed to a winless start to the Premier League campaign.
Liverpool will be looking to bounce back following Monday’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, but Klopp has confirmed its as you were in terms of personnel.
Alongside the injury issues, Darwin Nunez will also serve the second game of his three-match suspension for a red card against Crystal Palace earlier this month.
However, the German is anticipating the return of several stars in the coming weeks and confirmed that Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, Thiago and Diogo Jota are all edging closer to a first-team return.
“This weekend, probably not, but after that Joel [Matip], Curtis [Jones], Thiago [Alcantara] is not too far away, Diogo [Jota] is getting closer, Caoimhin [Kelleher[ will be in training early next week as well,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“I don’t think anybody will be ready for tomorrow.”
