Each week we preview the weekend’s action and provide our best advice for Fantasy Premier League, selecting four options we believe should be leading contenders for your crucial captaincy.
It looks to be a promising weekend on paper for the premium players, but the early weeks of the season have been filled with unpredictability. Will you go for the safe option? Or daringly decide on a differential?
Ahead of gameweek four, we look at four of the best Fantasy Premier League captaincy options.
Mohamed Salah vs Bournemouth (H)
Liverpool’s stutters this season will not prevent Mohamed Salah from being a popular selection for the captaincy this weekend, with the Reds looking to bounce back from their winless start against Bournemouth at Anfield.
Even given Liverpool’s poor start, Salah has scored twice and provided an assist in three games. His 13 chances created are a league-leading total and the Egyptian also boasts a brilliant record against this weekend’s opponents.

He has scored in all six previous meetings against Bournemouth, scoring eight goals and providing one assists. The Cherries arrive at Liverpool having conceded seven goals across their last two games and face a team who have gone unbeaten at Anfield in four of the past five Premier League seasons.
Kevin De Bruyne vs Crystal Palace (H)
Erling Haaland might be the more obvious selection, but Pep Guardiola’s recent comments on the forward might place doubt in the minds of FPL managers.
Pep-roulette has been a common irritant for FPL bosses in recent campaigns and the Spaniard has suggested he has no plans to stop his tactical tinkering.
“Now he (Haaland) has one game a week. I tell you now when we have games every three days that Erling will not play,” the City boss said after City’s draw at Newcastle last weekend.
“I will play Julian [Alvarez]. One of my favourite players is Bernardo [Silva] and he did not play until today. Riyad [Mahrez] is by far one of my favourite players – especially on the biggest stages – and today he didn’t play. When we start with games every three days, everyone is going to play.”
With a midweek fixture list to come, could this be the weekend that Alvarez is handed a full league debut? One man who isn’t often rotated is the brilliant De Bruyne, who could be a better alternative this weekend.

The midfielder has returned in all three fixtures so far this season and has now has scored or assisted 19 times in his last 14 Premier League appearances.
Gabriel Jesus vs Fulham (H)
Gabriel Jesus is already a firm favourite at Arsenal, with the summer signing having made an instant impression in north London.
Jesus has two goals and three assists in five Premier League games for the Gunners and has been at the centre of the side’s success this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side lead the table after three straight wins and next take on newly-promoted Fulham at the Emirates. The visitors have made a strong start of their own, but Arsenal will be confident of extending their winning run.

After a difficult period on the fringes at Manchester City, Jesus is oozing with confidence as the main main in Mikel Arteta’s side. His £45m fee is fast appearing a bargain.
Harry Kane vs Nottingham Forest (A)
Harry Kane has began to find his form in recent fixtures, with the Spurs striker scoring in back-to-back fixtures. A traditionally slow starter in August, his goals against Chelsea and Wolves have earned the north Londoners four points.
Antonio Conte’s side travel to face Nottingham Forest this weekend, who have taken four points from three games to date. Forest’s first home fixture resulted in a 1-0 win over West Ham, but that result was their only clean sheet of the campaign so far.

Kane’s winner at Wolves extended his record as the most productive Premier League player of 2022. The England captain has been directly involved in more goals (23) than any other player this calendar year, ahead of Kevin De Bruyne and Son Heung-Min (both 21).
