Jurgen Klopp has provided fitness updates on Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson ahead of Liverpool’s trip to face Arsenal this weekend.
Liverpool travel to the Emirates this weekend needing to secure three points to stay in touching distance of the Premier League’s top four, the champions currently seventh and five points adrift of Chelsea in the race to secure Champions League qualification.
Klopp has confirmed that his side will be boosted by the return of Roberto Firmino, who has missed the Reds’ past three fixtures with a knock.
Klopp confirmed that Jordan Henderson remains unavailable despite nearing his return to first-team training, whilst he remained coy on long-term absentees Van Dijk and Joe Gomez and admits he is unsure on the prospect of the defenders featuring at this summer’s European Championship.
“Bobby [Firmino] is back. All the others not and I have no idea about the Euros. They are all in the place they should be at the moment. I donโt have bad news or brilliant news,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
“Jordan is not here at the moment, he cannot train. He will train in the next days or weeks, for sure.”
Liverpool face Arsenal this weekend before a Champions League quarter-final meeting with Real Madrid in midweek, the latter competition remaining the club’s only hope of silverware this season following a difficult title defence.
Klopp says his side will ‘go for it’ ahead of the Premier League’s run-in, however, though admitted Liverpool can ill-afford any slip-ups in the race to secure a top four finish.
“Letโs go for it and have a look at the end. We donโt have a lot of points to waste any more. We will not hesitate and we will just go for it.”
