Sancho finally set for Man Utd medical

Jadon Sancho is set to undergo his medical at Manchester United today ahead of the winger’s £73m move from Borussia Dortmund.

United have agreed a deal in principle to sign the England international following a protracted chase, having seen initial attempts to sign Sancho rejected by the Bundesliga side during last summer’s transfer window.

Following the long drawn-out negotiations, the two clubs finally reached an agreement over Sancho’s transfer earlier this month and the Mail are reporting that the winger will undergo a medical at the Red Devils’ Carrington training ground on Tuesday ahead of finalising the switch.

Sancho has been with the England squad at Euro 2020 and was one of three players to miss during the Three Lions’ shoot-out defeat to Italy in Sunday’s final, alongside soon-to-be Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford and Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka.

The impending arrival is set to have a three week holiday before returning to the club for the latter stages of pre-season, with United’s Premier League campaign set to begin with a clash against rivals Leeds at Old Trafford on August 14.

United are also continuing discussions over the signing of Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane, with the Red Devils understood to have been given permission to discuss personal terms with the France international.

There remains a disparity regarding the player’s transfer fee however, the Spanish side holding out for a fee in excess of £50m despite the 28-year-old having just a year remaining on his current contract.
