Inter Milan are set to return with an improved bid for Christian Eriksen, as the club seek to finalise a deal for the Tottenham midfielder this month.

The Italian giants have emerged as the frontrunners to secure the services of the Danish international, Eriksen out-of-contract in the summer and having informed Spurs of his desire to leave the club after six-and-a-half years in search of a new challenge.

The 27-year-old is available on a free transfer next summer, however, Inter Milan are keen to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season and saw an initial bid of around £8 million rejected by the north London side earlier in the window.

According to the Guardian, the Serie A side will now return with an improved offer as they look to conclude a deal before the transfer deadline, Inter set to make a bid of €15m (£12.8m) plus a series of potential add-ons.

Antonio Conte’s side have already agreed personal terms with Eriksen, and will now be hoping their latest bid can persuade Tottenham to sell – chairman Daniel Levy keen to secure a fee for the former Ajax star this month rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in six months time.

Conte and his recruitment team have been active during the winter window as they bid to strengthen at the San Siro, Inter having slipped four points behind league leaders Juventus following the club’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Lecce last weekend.

Inter have already secured the signing of Ashley Young from Manchester United, whilst the club are also working on prospective deals for Chelsea‘s Olivier Giroud and Victor Moses – though the latter is currently on loan at Turkish side Fenerbahce.
