Callum Hudson-Odoi remains a part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans and is set to stay at Chelsea, despite reports linking the winger as part of a swap-deal for Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman.
Hudson-Odoi has failed to cement himself as a regular in the Chelsea side following much uncertainty surrounding his future over the past two seasons, the 20-year-old having been subject of strong interest from Bayern Munich before penning a long-term deal in September 2019.
The Bundesliga side saw several offers for the academy graduate rejected by Chelsea, who subsequently handed the promising winger a vastly improved new contract worth around £120,000-a-week to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
It has proven a frustrating period since the signing of that new deal however, Hudson-Odoi starting just 10 league fixtures during the 2020/21 campaign and featuring in an unfamiliar wing-back role following the arrival of Tuchel in January.
The three-cap England international has recently been linked with a potential part-exchange move to Bayern this summer as Chelsea bid to lure Kingsley Coman to the Premier League, though The Athletic are reporting that Hudson-Odoi remains part of the Blues’ plans.
He has also been discussed as a makeweight in a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Hudson-Odoi started Tuchel’s reign in favour and made 13 appearances during the German’s opening two months in charge, though fell out of favour during the run-in and was an unused substitute during the Champions League final.
The winger returned for pre-season on July 9 in what will be his first full summer of preparation since breaking into the senior side and report claims that the youngster is in ‘the best physical shape’ since his breakthrough as he bids to secure a regular role and overcome a frustrating period.
