Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says staying in the Premier League is the club’s main ‘goal’.
Palace currently eight points clear of the relegation zone in 13th, but despite that cushion boss Hodgson admits survival remains the club’s primary focus.
“It is a fact of life that staying in the Premier League is the goal,” Hodgson told his pre-match press conference.
”We know it will be a fight to achieve it. We aren’t taking anything for granted. We are fighting for every point.
“We take each game as it comes. We will be entering our seventh successive season in the Premier League if we achieve our goal, it’s an impressive achievement.”
Palace travel to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park this weekend, with just one point and one place separating the two sides.
Andros Townsend is likely to start against his former club, with the winger having returned from a hand injury during the midweek defeat at Tottenham.
