Ralph Hassenhuttl hailed the ‘beautiful moment’ after Southampton eased their relegation concerns with a 3-1 win over Wolves.
Nathan Redmond scored twice for Hassenhuttl’s side, who now have an eight point cushion from Cardiff City in the final relegation position.
Redmond continued his fine form since Hassenhuttl’s appointment in December, scoring twice in the first-half either side of Wolves’ Wily Boly’s equaliser.
Irish international Shane Long sealed the win for the Saints in the second period, and Hassenhuttl admits he was delighted after watching his side all but secure their Premier League status for next season.
“You know how much pressure we have been under the last few weeks and now it seems we are coming out of the trouble,” he told BBC MOTD.
“It’s the most beautiful moment of the weekend if you can win and celebrate with the fans.
“We scored early but we were on the back foot a little bit and that is why we pushed them forward when Wolves equalised.”
