Guardiola: I said ‘ah sh*t’ when Liverpool scored against Spurs

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits he said ‘ah sh*t’ when Liverpool scored their late winner against Tottenham on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side returned to the top of the Premier League in fortuitous circumstances last weekend, with Toby Alderweireld’s 90th-minute own goal handed Liverpool a 2-1 win at Anfield.

Guardiola admits the late goal caused him to curse, but says the close nature of the title race will make for an exciting final few weeks.

“When you see them you say ‘ah sh*t’,” he said. “But after five or 10 minutes, it’s nice.

“Nobody said it would be easy, nobody. We knew it, I knew it. It is a better challenge.

“After a while you say it would be amazing, what we are going to live. Everybody is excited for what we are going to live in the next weeks.”

City have the chance to return to the top when they host struggling Cardiff at the Etihad on Tuesday.

Top scorer Sergio Aguero will miss the clash through injury, having been substituted at his own request in last week’s win at Fulham, though captain Vincent Kompany could return in defence.
