Guardiola: Old Trafford is no longer ‘scary’ for Man City

Pep Guardiola says visiting Old Trafford is no longer ‘scary’ for Manchester City.

City make the short trip across Manchester to face rivals United on Wednesday night, needing a win to go back above Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.

Having spent much of their history in the shadows of United, once going 34 years without a win at Old Trafford, City have emerged as the dominant force in Manchester in recent seasons.

Guardiola’s side have lost just once in their past seven visits to Old Trafford, and the Spaniard insists the trip to United now holds no fear for his side.

“I don’t make theories about what happened in the past. Every game is completely different,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.

“The fact is this club grew a lot in the last decade, so it is not scary to go there.

“Before that it was maybe more difficult. The players Manchester City have had in the last decade made this game a little bit more equal.”
