Pep Guardiola says he is expecting another ‘intense’ encounter as Manchester City prepare to face Tottenham on Saturday.
City host Spurs in a huge clash on Saturday lunch time, the third meeting between the sides in 10 days following their dramatic Champions League quarter-final tie.
Tottenham ended City’s hopes of an unprecedented ‘quadruple’ by eliminating Guardiola’s side from the Champions League on Wednesday, reaching the semi-finals for the first time in their history on away goals after the tie finished 4-4 on aggregate.
The game ended in dramatic fashion, with Raheem Sterling having a stoppage-time ‘winner’ disallowed by VAR for offside.
Guardiola is anticipating another tough test when Mauricio Pochettino’s side again visit the Etihad this weekend, saying his side are prepared for another ‘intense’ encounter.
“I think the game against Spurs will be just as intense as the other day,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.
“If you believe it doesn’t hurt, you’re wrong, but we have to live with that.
“The players were fantastic. We lost but I was so proud. The performance we did was incredible.”
