‘Go for it’ – Klopp urges Liverpool to ‘cherish’ quadruple chase

Jurgen Klopp has said Liverpool will ‘go for it’ in the chase of a historic quadruple, and urged his side to ‘cherish’ the moment.

Their 2-0 win over Villarreal this week put Liverpool in pole position to book their place in a third Champions League final in five years, with the Merseyside outfit having already claimed the Carabao Cup and booked their place in next month’s FA Cup final.

The Reds are also laying in wait in the Premier League, currently sitting just a point behind league leaders Manchester City with five games to go as they look to become the first side to win all four trophies.

For weeks, Jurgen Klopp has tried to downplay his side’s chances of winning the quadruple, but with his side now unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions, even the German finally admitted his side must ‘go for it’ as they look to trump the achievements of Manchester United’s 1999 treble winners.

“We really go for it now,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“We can’t wait 10 years to make memories. We have to do it now. We have to enjoy the journey.

“We don’t know if we will win anything. But at the moment, we try to squeeze everything out of this season that is possible.

“We had Covid and then ‘the other guy’ put us in trouble. So we have to cherish these moments.”

Liverpool take on Newcastle in Saturday’s early kick off as they bid to put pressure on Manchester City ahead of their evening kick-off against Leeds.
