Fulham confirm no release clause in Palhinha contract

Fulham have confirmed that there is no release clause in the contract of Joao Palhinha, amid speculation that several sides are interested in the midfielder.

Palhinha is reportedly on the shortlist of a number of clubs seeking midfield additions this summer, following an outstanding debut season in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old led the Premier League for tackles and duels won during the 2022/23 campaign, as Fulham impressed on their top-flight return to secure a top-half finish.

Manchester United and Liverpool have been credited with interest in the Portugal international, while West Ham have been linked with a move for Palhinha as the Hammers prepare for Declan Rice’s exit from the London Stadium.

West Ham chairman David Sullivan last week confirmed that the club will allow Rice to leave this summer should a suitable offer arrive and Palhinha is viewed as an ideal replacement for the England midfielder.

Palhinha was signed in a £20m deal from Sporting Lisbon last summer and interested sides will need to offer a significant fee to tempt Fulham into a sale.

Tony Khan, the club’s vice-chairman and director of football operations, has confirmed on Twitter that there is no release clause in his contract at Craven Cottage.
