Fantasy Premier League: Navigating the double gameweeks

Fantasy Premier League is throwing us a number of double gameweeks as the run-in really kicks into gear.

There are only five gameweeks left before the season concludes, but three of them will see teams play twice in the one week.

This could be the most crucial stage of the campaign for many FPL managers, when every decision can have a big impact on your rank and where you end up in your mini-leagues.

That’s why it is essential to navigate these double gameweeks with proper planning as it gives players the opportunity to maximise their returns and potentially climb massively up the rankings.

Seven clubs will double in GW34, two in GW35 and six in GW37, but it should be noted that two completely different sets of teams double in gameweeks 34 and 37.

This will have a big bearing on your chip strategy, assuming you have some left. If you haven’t used the Free Hit by now, do it this weekend. It’s an ideal time to bring in a fresh squad of players who play twice before reverting to your previous team.

Of course, you might be happy with what you have for GW34 and instead choose to use your Triple Captain chip. Mo Salah, Dominic Solanke and Eberechi Eze are all potential candidates for the armband. It could also be saved for GW37, as Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland have an attractive set of fixtures that week.

If you still have your second Wildcard, resist using it this week and save it for GW35. You can load up on GW35 and GW37 players and set up for a Bench Boost in 37. If you have a stacked squad in GW34 then it may be worth activating that chip now.

There will be those who have used up all of their chips, to which we say… best of luck. You will need to use your free transfers very smartly between now and GW38.

Target DGW players, obviously, but with a particular emphasis on Chelsea players. They have seven games left to play, more than any other team in the Premier League.

Spurs are the only other team with two double gameweeks, but they also blank in GW34, so hold fire on bringing in their assets for now.

FPL GW34 Deadline: Saturday, April 20, 13:30 pm BST.
