Rio Ferdinand has praised Tammy Abraham and compared the forward to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
Abraham impressed once again and scored his first Champions League goal in Chelsea‘s 2-1 group stage win at Lille on Wednesday night, taking his tally to eight goals in 10 appearances in all competitions since being handed his opportunity under Frank Lampard this season.
The forward’s goal in France came on his 22nd birthday and got the Blues Champions League campaign up and running, and he has now been rewarded for his good early-season form with his first international call-up, Gareth Southgate naming him in his England squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
"Tammy is the leading English goalscorer in the league so it doesn’t take too much to see why he would be in the frame with us."

Speaking about the young striker, former England defender Rio Ferdinand likened him to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
“I saw elements in Tammy’s game today that I hadn’t seen as much that I’d have liked to. His hold-up play, coming to the ball and bringing others into play,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“First half, one ball went up to him, Didier Drogba-esque, chests it down for someone, runs on for the next phase – I think he’s developing nicely.
“He’s scoring goals, he’s scoring different types of goals and I think he’s a threat.”
