Deeney hits out at ‘loser’ Jimenez over mask celebration

Watford captain Troy Deeney has mocked ‘loser’ Raul Jimenez for the Wolves forward’s masked celebration during their FA Cup semi-final.

Jimenez celebrated after putting Wolves 2-0 up at Wembley by donning a wrestling mask, before Watford came back to seal a stunning 3-2 comeback win and reach the final.

Gerard Deulofeu scored twice for Javi Gracia’s side, who advanced to their first FA Cup final since 1984.

Deeney, who scored the stoppage time penalty to force the game into extra time, was asked about the Mexican’s celebration but admitting he did not see it at the time.

“I genuinely didn’t see that until just now,” Deeney told the press after the game.

“I’m glad he put that mask on. He can wear it out as well now he’s a loser.

“Enjoy the mask, but we got the victory.”

“It was a good goal. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a top, top player.

“I watch him and I think he’s the nuts – he’s very good. He plays the No.9 position very well.

“It was a great finish, but I didn’t see the mask thing, so I’m quite happy I only saw it now.

“I probably would’ve lost my head had I saw that. You’ve got to wear the mask and do all that stuff when you know you’re going to win the game.”
