Conte rejects Hazard, but keen on bringing Bale back to Spurs

Antonio Conte has reportedly rejected the chance to bring Eden Hazard back to the Premier League, but would be interested in re-signing Gareth Bale at Tottenham.

Hazard and Bale are both currently at Real Madrid but face uncertain futures at the Spanish giants, though Conte is understood to have rejected the chance to sign the former after being proposed a deal by chairman Daniel Levy.

Conte worked alongside Hazard during his time in charge of Chelsea with the Belgium international starring during the west London side’s title success in 2016/17, but Spanish outlet El Chiringuito, as per the Sun, are reporting the Italian has turned down the chance to reunite with the winger amid concerns over his work-rate in training.

However, Conte would reportedly be open to the prospect of Bale returning to North London, with the Welshman into the final season of his contract at the Bernabeu.

The 32-year-old scored 11 goals in just 10 league starts during a loan spell at Spurs last season, but has been unable to force his way into the Real Madrid side on a regular basis this term given the form of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo in wide positions.

With Bale out of favour and approaching the end of his contract, there could be an opportunity to secure his signing for a cut-price fee during the winter window as Conte looks to bolster his squad ahead of a challenge for Champions League qualification.
