Antonio Conte has backed Newcastle to ‘become one of the best teams in England’ and challenge for the Premier League title and trophies.
Tottenham welcome Newcastle to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, with the visitors arriving in confident mood following a strong start to the season.
Eddie Howe has overseen impressive progress of the side since, with Newcastle having lost just once in 11 league fixtures so far this season.
Expectations have increased at St James’ Park since the club’s Saudi-funded takeover last year, one which catapulted the Magpies into football’s financial elite.
Newcastle are aiming to secure European football this season and could move within two points of Spurs with a win in north London this weekend. Ahead of the clash, Conte has backed the ‘dangerous’ Magpies to become a major force in the Premier League in the coming seasons.
“You have to consider Newcastle for the future as a dangerous team, for the title and to win trophies,” Conte told his pre-match press conference.
“They have had the potential to go into the market and to become one of the best teams in England.
“For this reason, many clubs have had to pay great attention because in my opinion I see Newcastle in the future being really dangerous.”
