Chelsea winger, Willian, has slammed Antonio Conte, claiming that he hardly ever speaks to the players.
The Italian manager has been coming under increasing pressure after a less than impressive start to the season. Chelsea currently find themselves nine points adrift if league leaders Chelsea, as well as in second place in their Champions League group after last week’s defeat to Roma.
There has been speculation this week that Roman Abramovich has already taken the decision to sack Conte, and the latest comments from Willian will do nothing to inspire Chelsea fans.
Speaking to Brazilian site UOL Esporte about his manager, the Brazilian said:
“He is very closed off.
“He hardly ever talks to the players .
“He gives instructions in training, on the pitch and nothing more.
“During the game, he is as you all know.”
Willian has seen a limited amount of game time since Conte took over at the club almost 18 months ago. He was linked with a move to Manchester United to be reunited with Jose Mourinho who is a big admirer.
“There was contact with Manchester United, but I was never close to leaving.
“Of course, at times it’s frustrating when you’re not playing, but it wasn’t as if I stopped liking the club or the people who work there.”
Willian will be hoping to play some part in Chelsea’s fixture today against Mourinho’s Manchester United. Check out all the latest talking points, Team News and Predicted Lineups in our Match Preview.
