Antonio Conte will be sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich according to reports in Spain.
The Italian has a phenomenal debut campaign in the Premier League last season, taking the team that finished tenth the year before to the League title in his first season at the club.
However, despite leading Chelsea back to the top of the English tree, all things have not been rosy in the Stamford Bridge garden since the summer.
Firstly, there was the Diego Costa row at the end of last season when Conte reportedly told the striker via a text message that he was no longer a part of the squad and to find a new club.
Then there were reports linking him with a return to Italy before Conte himself admitted that he was homesick and couldn’t wait to get back to his homeland.
He was then unhappy at the club’s handling of the transfer window after they missed out on several big name signings, and didn’t strengthen the squad sufficiently ahead to fight in the Premier League, and Champions League front.
Now that the season has begun, there are reports of player unrest in the dressing room over the Italians methods, with results also not going to plan, with Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat to Roma certainly not helping matters.
Next up for Chelsea is the return of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, who are bolstered by the £40m signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, a decision which many fans and pundits believed to be absolutely crazy.
However, according to Spanish publication Marca, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has already made the decision to sack Conte, although will probably will wait until the summer to do so. The Russian Billionaire is thought to already be looking at replacements, with Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri on his shortlist.
