Chelsea linked Koulibaly favours Barcelona move if he leaves Napoli

Kalidou Koulibaly prefers a move to Barcelona over Chelsea this summer if the defender leaves Napoli.

Chelsea are interested in a deal to sign the centre-back who is open to leaving Napoli this summer, though face competition from both Barcelona and Juventus.

The 31-year-old has been one of Europe’s most coveted central defenders across eight seasons with the Serie A side, but is believed to be keen on a new challenge and has just one year remaining on his current deal.

Chelsea are interested as the club look to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, though Barcelona are understood to be Koulibaly’s preferred destination should Napoli allow his exit.

Juventus are considering a move for Koulibaly as speculation continues to surround the future of Matthijs de Ligt, though Gianluca Di Marzio are reporting that the rivalry between the clubs and the defender’s preference for a move abroad makes a deal unlikely.

The Bianconeri view Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenković as an alternative, with Napoli reluctant to conduct business with a rival following the backlash from Gonzalo Higuain’s sale to Juventus in 2020.

Koulibaly has made 317 appearances for Napoli in all competitions and has been included in the Serie A Team of the Year on four occasions.
