Chelsea have told Barcelona that Joao Pedro is not for sale under any circumstances this summer.
Barcelona had identified Pedro as a potential option for this summer’s transfer window as the Spanish champions seek a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The club’s sporting director, Deco, was in the UK in recent days with Pedro and Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon understood to be the reason for the visit.
However, Chelsea have sent Barcelona a clear message by insisting there is ‘no intention at all to negotiate’ or discuss a deal, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Pedro is seen as a key part of the project.
The Brazilian signed for Chelsea from Brighton last summer for a fee of around £60m and has scored 23 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions.
Despite missing out on Champions League qualification, Chelsea consider Pedro ‘untouchable’ and will reject all approaches.
